Happy New Year Scouts, Parents, and Unit Leaders, of the Okinawa Council, SAJ!
SAJ沖縄県連盟のスカウト、保護者、指導者の皆様、明けましておめでとうございます。
The year 2023 was a great Scouting year for the Far East Council, BSA as we celebrated our 70th anniversary.
During this year we were able to support over 3,000 Scouts in 18 different countries throughout Asia and the
South Pacific Islands. Some amazing council wide activities happened all over Japan, Korea, and Nepal where we took
over 250 Scouts for a weeklong campout in the mountains near Kathmandu. At each of these events it was thrilling
to see the Scouts working together, developing new skills, and of course having a great time.
2023 年は創立70周年を祝ったBSA極東連盟の人々にとって素晴らしいスカウティングの年でした。
昨年、極東連盟はアジアと南太平洋の島々の 18 か国で3,000 人以上のスカウトをサポートすることができました。
日本、韓国、ネパール各地で評議会全体の素晴らしい活動が行われ、私たちは250人以上のスカウトを連れ
てカトマンズ近郊の山中で一週間のキャンプを行いました。
これらのイベントのそれぞれで、スカウトが協力し、新しいスキルを開発し、そしてもちろん素晴らしい時間を過ごしているのを見るのは感動しました。
We would like to take a moment in this New Year greeting to thank one of our greatest Scouters, Marty Roberts, who returned to the United States to take on a new role with his company. He served faithfully with both the BSA and SAJ here in Okinawa for more than 20 years. We are hopeful that he will return to Okinawa again one day since we already miss his famous Dutch oven cooking. Thank you, Marty, for all you have done for Scouting.
この新年の挨拶の中で、新たな役割を担うために米国に帰国した偉大な指導者の 1 人、マーティ・ロバーツ氏に感謝の意を表したいと思います。彼はここ沖縄で 20 年以上にわたり、BSA と SAJ の両方に忠実に奉仕しました。彼の名物ダッチオーブン料理が懐かしいので、いつかまた沖縄に戻ってくることを期待しています。マーティさん、スカウティングのために尽くしてくれてありがとうございました。
The highlight of our Scouting year was having the chance to participate together, with both the BSA and the SAJ at the annual Spook-O-Ree. Hundreds of Scouts and their leaders enjoyed a wide variety of Halloween themed activities at United States Army Garrison, Torii Station. Thanks to those who spent so much time putting this wonderful event together.
私たちの昨年のスカウティングのハイライトは、毎年恒例のスプーク・オ・リーにBSAとSAJの両方と一緒に参加する機会を得たことです。アメリカ陸軍駐屯地の鳥居・ステーションでは、数百人のスカウトとそのリーダーがハロウィーンをテーマにしたさまざまなアクティビティを楽しみました。この素晴らしいイベントを企画するために多大な時間を費やしてくださったトリイステーションの方々に感謝します。
As we now begin to prepare for 2024 we are looking forward to the Friendship Jamborette this coming December where we will again be able to meet with hundreds of Scouts from both the SAJ and the BSA.
私たちは現在、2024 年に向けた準備を始めていますが、来る 12 月に開催される日米友愛ジャンボレット
で、再び SAJ と BSA の両方から数百人のスカウトと会うことができることを楽しみにしています。
We are so grateful for the wonderful partnership we have with the Okinawa Council, SAJ and look forward to another great Scouting year.
